 Namboori Thakur Tilak Varma, born on November 8, 2002, in Hyderabad, India, is a professional cricketer known for his left-handed batting and part-time off-spin bowling. He began his cricketing journey at the Legala Sports Academy in Telangana under the mentorship of Salam Bayash.


Varma made his first-class debut for Hyderabad during the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy on December 30, 2018. He subsequently debuted in Twenty20 cricket for Hyderabad in the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on February 28, 2019. His performances in domestic cricket led to his selection for the Indian Under-19 team, with whom he participated in the 2020 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Varma was acquired by the Mumbai Indians in 2022. During his debut season, he scored 397 runs at an average of 36.09 and a strike rate of 131.02. He improved his performance in the following season, accumulating 343 runs at an average of 42.88 and a strike rate of 164.11, which earned him a national team debut.

Varma made his international debut for India in a T20I match against the West Indies on August 3, 2023. As of April 2025, he has played 42 IPL matches, scoring a total of 1,251 runs with an average of 39.09, including six half-centuries and a highest score of 84*.

Despite financial challenges during his upbringing, Varma's dedication and talent have established him as a promising figure in Indian cricket.
